Generation You Podcast is now LIVE

On this special edition, Project CRYSP, LifeLube and Feast of Fun bring you a podcast forum taped in front of a live audience at the Center on Halsted in Chicago, Illinois last Wednesday, May 20.

We have a THINK PINK TANK- a multi-generational panel of experts on how to break down the barriers when it comes to age differences: Bill Rydwels, a founder of TPAN (Test Positive Aware Network) and a member of SAGE, the Center on Halsted’s Advocate and Service group for GLBT Seniors; Tony Alvarado-Rivera, a coordinator at the Broadway Youth Center’s LGBT Mentor Program, which aims to build healthy relationships between generations in our community; and Chris Bartlett, the director of the Greater Philadelphia LGBT Leadership Initiative.

Listen as we take you on a deep discussion on what it means to age as a gay man and how we can bridge the gap to become a happier, healthier and more connected society.

Plus questions from the audience live! You don’t want to miss it.

SAVE THE DATE - The next live podcast forum will be held on August 17 at the Center on Halsted, in conjunction with the 2009 National LGBTI Health Summit. Stay tuned for details and RSVP info.

How is Bill Rydwels healthy?

[Bill is a featured panelist at the May 20
live podcast forum Generation You.]

I have kept myself healthy and alive, these past twenty-five years of being HIV-positive... by living.

Twenty-five years ago I returned to Chicago to say good bye to my family and expected that within a year I would be dead. Fortunately, with the help of friends made at TPAN and all the positive people who worked to keep us alive, I learned that if you expect to die you might as well do so immediately. By LIVING, and I do mean living the life you've set out to do, you will live. I have reached an incredibly adult age by doing all that I've always wanted to do.

I've shared experiences of joy and sorrow with the most beautiful people one could hope to meet. I've traveled the major inhabited world from North America, to Europe, to South America, Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Central America and met my fellow men and women who accepted me into their homes and hearts without question. I've to love people for who they are; and not judge them by preconceived notions of the ill-informed.

By LIVING I have learned to live as healthily as possible and the only change in my life pattern has been adjustments in my daily health care. Without these I wouldn't be here now and, maybe, someday I'll have a chance to meet YOU and live a bit more.
