Save our State - 2010 AIDS Run/Walk Chicago Needs YOU to Help Avoid a Shipwreck

Looking for volunteers to enlist!

Gearing up for the 2010 AIDS Run/Walk? Wanna add a sailor hat into the mix? This year, AFC’s policy department will be gearing up sailor-style to Save Our State.

The-Titanic-is-sinking-themed tent will urge event participants to learn more about Illinois’ budget crisis and how they can fight to change it - plus folks can play our Save to State game and win a free t-shirt! In addition, AFC will be running a separate tent to register Illinois residents to vote.

All this madness means only one thing – WE NEED YOU! You can sign up for a two-hour shift at either tent, or donate whatever time you have. Please reply to psubkoviak@aidschicago.org and specify the tent and time you’d like to help out.

Fight for Health Care Reform - Volunteer at the 2009 Chicago AIDS Run & Walk!

Health care reform will fundamentally transform and enhance our ability to fight the spread of HIV and AIDS, and NOW is a critical moment that we need the voices of the HIV/AIDS community to be heard. The Advocacy Team at the AIDS Foundation of Chicago is looking for volunteers to help run the advocacy tent at the 2009 AIDS Run and Walk, happening October 3rd at Grant Park. Volunteers would work from 8:30 – 12pm (if possible), and encourage Run/Walk participants to sign petitions and join the fight for comprehensive health care reform. Even if you are participating, we can still use your help before, during and after the run! If you are interested in helpin’ out, please contact me at psubkoviak@aidschicago.org or at 312-334-0963.

How is Michael Lehet healthy?

How do I keep myself healthy?

I wish I could say it was by going to the gym but it's not.

But I do enjoy walking, so I try to walk as much as I can. Even in the winter I enjoy putting on my long underwear, oh I'm sorry, I mean "base layers" and heading out into the city to enjoy all that it has to offer.

Fortunately spring is right around the corner and daylight savings time kicks in this weekend to give me an extra hour of daylight in the evenings - more than enough time to bundle up and head out for a nice long walk.

In fact, my best friend and I have made a committment to walk in this years AIDS Walk/Run, so what are you doing to keep yourself healthy?
