Many people suffer mentally and aren't even aware of the damages they are causing.
Everyone needs a strong circle of people that they can vent to. I don't believe that any one person should know everything about you which is why I say keep a close circle and you decide who you will disclose what to. It is never good to keep your feelings and emotions bottled up, even if you need a day or two to collect yourself you should never let things fester.
Being unstable mentally can affect you physically as well. And sometimes it is good to speak with a professional; it doesn't make you crazy or mean that you have a problem. Speaking to a professional counselor, a doctor, can help you prevent a problem. Counselors can sometimes help you in ways that friends, lovers, or relatives cannot.
Another healthy way to release is to cry. As I get older I find myself crying more and at the most random of times. But I always feel so refreshed afterwards. Chanting, praying, boxing (with actual gloves in a ring), running, writing, meditating, and masturbating are all potentially safe ways to maintain good mental health.
Emotions are a little more difficult to control because many people allow for their emotions to guide them and when things go wrong so does the emotional guidance. I try to talk to older wise individuals and find out what kept them together as they went through life.
When I am angry, I find ways to calm myself down that don't involve me hurting anyone else. When you are sad you should figure what's making you sad and fix it. Never dwell in atmosphere that negatively affects your emotions, know that you are worth more and deserve happiness.
Don't allow yourself to "fall in love" with someone before they show you their true colors.
Become best friends with yourself and understand what things make you happy and what things make you unhappy. Knowing yourself and finding personal ways to control your emotions is the best way to maintain good emotional health.
Morality is a bit more difficult because it's partially based on personal beliefs, especially if you have no spiritual or religious grounding. No offense but people who aren't guided by anything other than themselves often times so are their moral beliefs. Thankfully, there are some common understandings of right and wrong. As long as you respect these common "laws" and stand strong on your beliefs you will maintain good moral health. If you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything.
Find out what patterns work best for you and your health and begin practice healthy living and eventually it won't seem like a task it will be second nature. You will feel so much better and the quality of your life will improve drastically.
