Services and Advocacy for GLBT Elders (SAGE), a program of Center on Halsted serving Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) older adults and seniors, received nearly a half a million dollars in federal funding on Tuesday.
The one-year $475,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will fund special projects designed to enhance the lives of LGBT older adults through the 12-year-old SAGE program. This is the third largest federal grant awarded to an LGBT aging program in the United States according to Serena Worthington, Senior Director of Public Programs at Center on Halsted, 3656 N Halsted.
