Staying healthy can be a bitch.
The temptations of partying too long and drinking too much can easily get on the way of a healthier lifestyle. I try keep my body healthy by lifting weights with a trainer three times a week. Aside from the physical benefits, it helps me clear the mind. Besides, it's a good way to get my ass kicked by a totally hot straight boy :P
I've also learned the importance of sleeping enough hours at night. If I ever sleep less than 6, I'm a certified zombie the next day. Eating a healthier diet is also key, but that doesn't mean the occasional Mexican fried goodness doesn't sneak into my plate.
As a rule, I allow myself one day to be "bad". Be it getting a couple of martinis, staying out dancing late, or making it a pizza/movie nite, allowing myself to let go gives my mind and body a much needed rest from the activities and stresses of the week.
But perhaps the most important way i keep myself healthy is by surrounding myself with energetic, fun people with a zest for life. I've learned to listen to my heart and to do as it desires, for as the great RuPaul says... "if you don't love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else? Can I get an AMEN up in here?"
Amen, sister.
