Will any of these ad's show up anywhere other than the north side? This is a great site (I came upon it after reading the red line ads) but I hope it is not just marketed to northsiders, with the common misconception that glbtq people only live and work on the north side. There are plenty of gay people on the south and southwest side of Chicago that could benefit from this great resource.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hard work you all do to keep this site fun and informative.
-Julio, Chicago, IL (Lincoln Square, but originally from Pilsen)
Thanks for your comments Julio. Glad you like the site!
ReplyDeleteThe ads are part of Project CRYSP (http://lifelube.org/about.php) a Chicago Department of Public Health's collaboration working with 4 agencies on HIV prevention, gay men's health as well as crystal meth prevention. Per the city's guidelines for this 5 year project, Project CRYSP is to focus its work in 6 northside zipcodes where there are the highest rates of HIV among gay men, highest rates of syphilis, and highest rates of crystal meth use.
That said, we understand that gay men are everywhere in the city, so our new "How are you healthy?" social marketing campaign is being featured in places that go well beyond the 6 northside zipcodes.
Ads are on the Red Line, which serves the length of the city - from Howard to 95th and is heavily utilized by people from every corner of Chicago. Ads are also on the backs of buses - and here are those routes:
11 Lincoln
22 Clark
36 Broadway
49 Western Owl
49B North Western
50 Damen
82 Kimball - Homan
92 Foster
93 California - Dodge
96 Lunt
97 Skokie
X98 Avon Express
135 Clarendon - LaSalle Exp.
136 Sheridan - LaSalle Exp.
144 Marine - Michigan Exp.
146 Inner Drive - Michigan Exp.
147 Outer Drive Exp.
151 Sheridan
152 Addison
155 Devon
200 Evanston Shuttle
201 Central - Ridge
205 Chicago - Golf
206 Evanston Circular
Ads are online, which has no geographic boundaries, and are also being run in all the gay press outlets, including Chicago Free Press, Windy City Times, Nightspots, Gay Chicago, and BOI - and all of these pubs circulate outside Boystown and Andersonville.
Finally, poster versions of the ads are available as well. And we are happy to provide them to people/groups anywhere in the city. Right now they are being placed in clinics, community based organization, retail outlets, bars, batthouses, etc - mostly on the northside, but absolutely not limited there! Let us know if you have ideas/want to help.
And thanks again!
