How is Chantz Thilmony healthy?

I love to laugh. 
I probably do it at least 20 times a day-
the trick for me now is 
volume control and timing.
 
So I’m not everyone’s ideal picture of health- sue me. I really dig this project because it focuses on so many aspects of “health”.  As a whole, gay men are far too obsessed with the tan, ripped, dark, and handsome picture of “health” we all strive to be (I’m not complaining- keep it up you delicious beefcakes). I’d like to think that my happiness keeps me healthy and these are some things I focus on to keep my sassified foxy self healthy.

I LAUGH…A LOT.- Many of us get so caught up in everyday life- in planning that next step- in worrying about the past (or that next hot trick we’re meeting this weekend) that we forget to laugh. We all know how high levels of stress can be unhealthy so one surefire way to expel those unnecessary levels of stess?- Breathe deep- chuckle-repeat. I love to laugh. I probably do it at least 20 times a day-the trick for me now is volume control and timing. I read a joke, I recall a favorite blonde moment, or I examine the situation that has sent me into a red-faced tizzy. Laughing at myself helps me lift that fog of anger and frustration to see the problem in a new and much brighter light.

I BREATHE-INTENTIONALLY- When I’m not feeling well I examine my breathing. Is it shallow? Is it quick? Is it forced? When time allows I close my eyes and take at least 3 deep and intentional breathes. Sometimes it works- sometimes it doesn’t. For most of us breathing is automatic- but that doesn’t excuse us from taking a time out every once in a while to be conscious of it. Air/Oxygen is a vital part to keeping our bodies healthy and working at full capacity so I make sure I’m getting a good gulp of it ever now and again.

I DANCE- Even the simple “I’m at the office so I can only thrust my hips in this office chair so much” dance works for me. Music has always been a huge part of my life. Whether Im sad, pissed off, or just feeling fuzzy- cranking up some Christina A. or some showtunes has almost an immediate effect on my well-being. We all have those days when that song on the radio speaks to us- its totally playing because you’re in an 80s movie and everybody has their own personal soundtrack. I find some upbeat tunes and make sure mine is going to be an upbeat bestseller alongside Miss Clarkson herself.
