In my life, being healthy begins first with understanding that I am worth caring for myself. This applies not only to the usual suspects like drugs, tobacco, and overindulgence in sweets (like strawberry cheesecake, my weakness), but also in the other everyday decisions I make, both large and small. So when faced with seemingly trivial situations that require a decision from me, I am learning more and more how to assess those things within the larger framework of my life and wellness. It’s been an ongoing learning experience that I believe has enhanced my health. The other major aspect of health as it relates to my life involves being aware of my moods, temperament, and outlooks, and the impact they each have on my wellness. With that being said, I work hard to keep potentially-troubling life situations in perspective. That means being aware of the roles I play in different situations, and, perhaps more-importantly, being at-peace with those things that are beyond my control. It also translates to knowing that we are all here on this earth together, and resolving to do my best to make it as pleasant as possible.
