[have to say we LOVE this article, by C. J. Arrellano on Edge Chicago, about our new social marketing campaign - "How are you healthy?"]
--- excerpt
"How Are You Healthy?" was launched by Project CRYSP, a four-agency collaboration between the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Center on Halsted, Test Positive Aware Network, and Howard Brown Health Center. Project CRYSP is funded by the Chicago Department of Public Health.
What differs "How Are You Healthy?" from many other gay health campaigns is that it doesn’t cast gay men in a negative, disease-oriented paradigm, nor does it highlight HIV, STDs, or crystal meth as the only health issues that define gay men. These deficit-based campaigns tend to focus on what gay men are doing wrong. "[Project CRYSP] wanted to say, well, there’s all kinds of things we’re doing right!" says Pickett. "So we wanted to create a campaign that wasn’t HIV specific, that didn’t focus on deficits, but just got gay men to think about how they’re healthy."
