I ride my bike five miles to work as often as possible, even during the colder months, providing there is no ice or freezing rain.
I’ve had friends ask , “Are you nuts?!” to which I answer, “Yeah, probably, but at least I feel better when I get to work and then after I return home.”
Not only is it great cardio, it gets me out in the open air.
Although this is going to sound very Snow White “Ahh Ha HaHa Ha…”, my favorite route to work goes by North Pond in Lincoln Park and I watch the different birds and animals scurrying around. It immediately takes my mind off any problems (real or imagined) I might have.
I guess you could say it's both a physical and emotional stimulus for me. …and no, bluebirds don’t land on my finger while I’m there.
