Good, good lovin’, long dog walks on the beach, a mostly vegan diet, Micah’s laugh and any song by Mary Chapin Carpenter.
And qigong. Pronounced chi-gung, this is an ancient Daoist practice that combines stretching and stillness, and is designed to cultivate energy, and promote health and longevity. Qigong also helps me meditate. I’m a twitch, who likes to multi-task, and if I could run, vacuum, pay the bills and read a book all at the same time, I would.
So gigong and meditation are what make me healthy. Sometimes I practice with my partner, sometimes it’s just me and the dogs. In these crazy times, when the mind loves to run wild and make stuff up, gigong and meditation (and of course training for the AIDS Marathon to benefit the AIDS Foundation of Chicago) help me keep it together. Sound mind, sound body. Oh yeah, and Soy Creamy. It really is better than ice-cream, I swear.
