How is Jose Lopez healthy?

At this point in my life I am very aware of my health and how not living a healthier lifestyle can have dire ramifications.

You see, diabetes runs in my family and I really do not wish to have to deal with the shots or all the other issues that can arise. This is why I made changes in my diet. The first thing I had to take care of was losing the extra weight. The first step I took to lose the weight was to reduce the portions of my meals. Every few weeks I would remove a small portion of food from my plate until I got my plate to resemble the actual serving size that I should have been eating. The next step I took was to incorporate healthier foods into my diet. I began to exchange one or two meals a week with a salad and/or a soup. Following this, I began to eat more Asian foods like spring rolls, soups, vegetables and rice noodles.

I am proud to say that I lost over twenty pounds and have kept the weight off for over four years.

Now that I took off the weight and am eating healthier, I turned my attention to reducing my sugar intake. The first thing that I did was reduce the number of sugar packets that I put in my coffee, and sometimes I even use those artificial sweeteners. I stopped eating the sugary cereals and slowly replaced candy bars with fruits and fruit snacks. Replacing my beloved candy bars is still a work in progress. In addition, I am beginning to replace ice cream with frozen fruit bars and this is most definitely a huge challenge for me.

Since the beginning I’ve incorporated some form of exercise, which mostly consists of walking and dancing. Now I realize that I need to incorporate a work out regimen into my life. I am proud to say that I joined a gym, and my next step would be to go and work out.
