To stay healthy, I remember the phrase, "don't sweat the small stuff."
For example, I used to get very upset when drivers acted in an unsportsmanlike manner. I've learned that anger in those situations is nothing but a self-destructive emotion. It causes your blood pressure to shoot through the roof, and can make you act like an irresponsible jackass. I've learned to acknowledge the emotion, rationally think the situation through, and then let it go. I've carried that into other parts of my life as well. It's amazing how calm you can stay by not letting other people's emotions become your own. The more centered you are, the less likely you'll make snap decisions that may not be in your best interest for the long run.
I am also relying more and more on my circle of good friends. This includes both platonic, and ongoing "friends with benefits." They are my adopted family, and provide a support structure that fosters a feeling of self-acceptance and confidence that enriches my life.
Of course you should go to the doctor, try to eat right (one I am still striving for, by the way), get tested, exercise, etc, but your daily state of "healthfulness", I believe, is much more a function of your emotions and how you choose to processes them.
Oh yea, tons of vitamin C can't hurt either.
