Seeking Stories that Reflect the Lives of GLBTs

Spiral River Productions is seeking stories for a book and is conducting a writing contest. The purpose of the book is to reflect the authentic lives of GLBT all over the world.

- Have you had a powerful experience that changed your life?
- Has someone profoundly impacted your life?
- Is there someone who is so special that the world should know about them?
- Do you know a great story about a GLBT person or a member of their family?
- Are you a straight person who has been impacted by a GLBT person?

Stories should be inspirational, true and about people exhibiting the noble qualities of humanity like kindness, generosity, authenticity, caring, humor, friendship, love, courage, sharing, learning a life lesson, growing, overcoming obstacles, living fully or having great faith in God, themselves or others.

You may have an interest such as sports, science, art, music, etc. that gives you a unique perspective on life. Or as a parent, you experienced something funny or powerful through your children. All of us have key moments in our lives both as adults and children that define who we are. You may want to share one of those moments. You may also have had to overcome adversity and in your struggle, you experienced personal growth.

We want any unique, unusual, and interesting story you have experienced or of which you are aware. We already have a lot of coming out stories, so we suggest that you choose some other experience; unless your coming out story is very unique.

The names of people in your story will be changed prior to printing the book.

You will be awarded $25 if we use your story in the book, once the book is published.

The author of the best story will be awarded $1,000.

Stories should be written in English, ideally be 300-1500 words and will be collected through March 31, 2009. Once you send your story, we will e-mail you a release form which you will need to sign and send in as the final step of story submission.
